Spiritual Direction Philosophy
Greetings! I’m Dave Munro, a spiritual director, interfaith minister, hospital chaplain, environmental lawyer, partner, father, and grandfather. I would love to accompany you in deepening your connection to Spirit in whatever form the Divine speaks to you.
I have served Unitarian Universalism in many roles, including as president of my home congregation of Albany NY and as president of the St. Lawrence District. I have offered both individual and group spiritual direction to Wellspring participants.
What makes an effective spiritual director? Here is what I have found to be important in my own work, both as a director and directee:
• Deep Listening- is a form of spiritual hospitality by which those who are listened to start feeling accepted, and discovering their true selves.
• Wholeness- assisting the directee in coming to know themselves as completely acceptable and worthy of love, and fully accepted and loved by the Divine.
• Radical Acceptance- I come to spiritual direction with enormous curiosity and a non-judgmental presence, thereby providing directees with permission to reflect upon their journeys through both joyous and challenging times.
The world desperately needs spiritual companionship- contact me for a complimentary ‘get to know you’ session to see if we might be a good fit!
